The good light is obligatory for achieving the perfect shot – intense, white and well directed. Don’t forget that the reflection of the light source on the top layer may show imperfections on the surface.

Too yellow and too blue light may change the colors and make them unrecognizable – there won’t be anything left from the flirty neon but an orange memory. The pose is a key factor too. The hand should be relaxed and standing naturally. When the chosen angle is inappropriate even the perfect nails will look shapeless.

If you have chosen light color for the lacquer or gel lacquer, you can take the photo with a darker background to enhance the total composition and put accent on the hand. If the color is warm, select a warm dark color for background and the opposite.

Take the pictures with good resolution – all the details must be seen well even if zoomed.

Category “Manicure”

This is your everyday work in the beauty salon. It’s practical and a trend right now – simple and perfect manicure without decorations, well-shaped and healthy skin fold, which isn’t “soaked” in cuticle oil. For the competition you will need only the best picture of this type of work.

Category “Design Manicure”

Here you can explode with the brush! On natural nail or nail extension you can mix technics and paint boldly. When taking pictures of these designs don’t add too much accessories around the hands or in the background or you’ll distract the viewer from the main character – the design. If you’ve chosen to make long nails with a distinctive shape, take a shot from an exact angle, so you can show well the length and the line without optical distortion.

Category “Pedicure”

Let’s be honest – the feet are so hard to photograph. Select a model with nice straight fingers and nails, because this will make your life easier. You can take the picture on the pedicure chair or on the ground – it’s important to show both the nails and feet. The two feet can be in different position so the details are well visible. Use additional light so you can emphasize on the condition of the skin after the procedure.

Category “Therapeutic Pedicure”

This is a specific category. The work lasts often for months. There aren’t strict rules for taking the picture in this category, but don’t forget that the image should show very well the condition before and after the treatment. Take the shots from three different angles. The more complex the case, the better! Remember that you should upload a collage of the pictures before and after the treatment. Your personal identification code must be placed near the client’s feet on the picture after the treatment.

Category “Art poster”

Finding a good photographer and a model is crucial for this category. If you plan the model’s face to participate in the shooting, not only the hands, you would like to work with a good hairdresser and makeup artist. You may be a marvelous nail artist, but if you don’t dispose with a good team of beauty professionals for creating a complete look, you will miss fundamental qualities. It’s recommended to create the look with people who can complement you work and the opposite. There aren’t restrictions in this category and your imagination is the limit. Make at least two images which you will like to hang on the wall in the salon. Provoke the public!

Category “Salon of the year”

We know that many of you leave their heart and soul when making their own salon. You’ve selected every small detail of the interior and you’ve though about every corner. We recommend competing with pictures made by a professional photographer, because he knows how to take the right angle to show better the space, or at least consulting with one and researching the interior photography. Even if you don’t plan to compete in this category, consider taking pictures of your salon to popularize your work and place in the social media and the online platforms.

A few advices which may result helpful for the preparation of the photoshoot:

• Tidy up and try to store everything on its place;
• Plan the shooting earlier so you will have enough time to examine the images and select the best. If necessary, you’ll have time to reshoot some things;
• Remove all the excessive details and decorations on tables, walls and cabinets;
• Format the images properly.

Upload in your competition’s profile the images which represent the soul and the atmosphere of your place. Don’t forget to maintain the digital and real presence of the salon.

Every client’s visit can be used as competition’s work. You only need a personal identification code near your client’s hands or feet and a good picture.
