Here comes the moment to tell you about Lina Valerieva who is a judge for categories Manicure, Pedicure and Design Manicure and for the first time is part of the juries in EMILY Annual Awards competition.
What’s behind the professional Lina Valerieva?
I’m a happy person. I have a wonderful family, two adorable children that I’m proud of. I dream and I seek my goals. I work hard but I never miss taking a rest, I love to rest completely and enjoy. I have a perfectionist’s nature – always strict, precise and assiduous in everything I do at 100%.
I’ve graduated in two different fields – Design and Economics and marketing, which help me a lot in the profession as a manicurist and trainer to develop my business.
Behind me I have more than 20 years of professional experience and a lot of hard work, perseverance and ambition. I’ve past countless courses to improve my knowledge and skills. I manage and work in nail studio Nail Home in Pernik.
I’m a licensed trainer of many years and this is the main thing I work now. I organize base and advanced technical training and art classes. I’m a trainer of the brand NL n.o.b.e.l. with the title Expert educator and I’m distributor of the brand for Bulgaria. I’m the author of many courses, trainings and articles. I’m lecturer on numerous seminars in the manicure field. As well, I’m certified trainer of the Pipe shape by the author of the patented shape Viktoriia Klopotova. I’ve deserved the title International Master in the Alexander Finko School.
I’m holder of numerous titles and awards from competitions and I think that the competitions take a key part in the development of every professional.
From 3 years I organize the prestigious international Nailpro competition in Bulgaria. I’m a certified judge for Nailpro Europe and a Golden instructor for training the participants in Nailpro.
I wish luck to all the participants in EMILY Annual Awards 2021. Don’t stop challenging yourself!
What would impress you the most in the work of a participant?
The most impressive thing to me as a judge is the neatness of the work style and the professional execution of the task. The details and the small thing differentiate one work from another.
What to consider the participants when preparing their model for the competition?
The choice of the right model is crucial. The general impression of one work always includes the whole look of the hands or the feet. The model should have nice hands or feet, long nail natural plates, nice and even skin. I advise the participants to choose wisely the length and the shape of the nails considering the hand and the design they’ve chosen. Another thing is to take enough time for the details – to clean the nail fold, to make sure the shape of every nail is the same, to apply the nail lacquer color extremely close to the cuticle, to try a few times the design… The presentation of the work is important too. The participants should take their photos carefully under good light and with high resolution, minding the look of the hands or the feet under the light and the position. Of course, don’t forget to clean any trace of cream and oil.
What qualities will impress you as a judge in the work of the participants in EMILY Annual Awards 2021?
The first and the most important to me is the professional execution. We’re professionals so we should work as such and provide a professional service to our clients. Another thing I appreciate is the level of complexity and right execution of the work. Our services bring beauty, fantasy and creativity so the achieved esthetic result is a main point in the participant’s presentation. This’s what I’d like to see in the images of the contestants.
Where do you find inspiration for your job?
The wide horizons, the new challenges and the infinity field for development and growth in this profession inspire me and motivate me. But this is the reason I accept more and more obligations so my workdays become dynamic and interesting.
How does your day go in the salon and at home?
The only usual thing in my daily routine is that I start my mornings with a short, fragrant coffee with milk and three kisses for good morning, without which the day would not be complete - from my husband and my two children. Some days of the week I work in the salon, other days I have training classes and seminars as a trainer, some days I leave for organizing stuff.
If I analyse one day spent in the salon with customers, I can say my work with customers is nice because through the years I’ve kept the ones with whom we have mutual respect. I start working late without any rests and I don’t let my workday to last too long – from 9:00 to 16:00, but I use every free minute on the workday to organize or do something. In the evening, I also set aside an hour to plan or do the organizational work on my engagements outside the salon. Very often I don’t have time to eat or drink water. I work a lot, but I also rest often and fully.
What are your three motivating words that help you in life's challenges?
Whatever I do, both personally and professionally, I always wonder if it brings me PLEASURE, it’s the leading word that I try to follow in order to be happy and satisfied and to make sense. I often set high goals and I CAN is one of the words I need to remember to cope. I often try to encourage myself for my achievements and successes, so I often CONGRATULATE even the little things and this is my biggest motivation.
