Interview with judge - Nina Valeva

- What inspired you to become a professional in the manicure and pedicure world?
- My education is related to art. At first, I was inspired to replace the large canvas I was used to painting on with a smaller one, namely our nails. They are an accessory that completes the overall look of a person. But over the years and my encounter with the palette of hand and foot problems, I have become more inspired by their health. If the nail is the canvas on which we manicurists create, it is extremely important how well it is in order for our work to be beautiful. And no less important is the condition of the skin, which is actually the beautiful frame surrounding our work.

- What is the biggest challenge you have faced in your professional journey?
- As a manicurist, the challenge was all these specific cases in therapeutic pedicure and manicure that I wanted to solve, and above all to help the client, such as sensation and pain relief. And aesthetically, by concealing imperfections, creating the illusion of perfect natural nails.
As an educator for almost 17 years now, I have been trying to find the right path for each learner to quickly build their knowledge, skills and competencies. The perception and the way we humans learn is so different, and that's the challenge for me as an educator, to find the right approach.

- What do you enjoy most about your job?
- I am satisfied with the progress of the students' work in their training process and their subsequent realization in the profession.

- What advice would you give to young professionals who want to succeed in this field?
- To pay attention to details in their work. To not stop developing and upgrading their knowledge and skills, because the world is changing extremely dynamically. But here it is important whether they draw knowledge from experienced and reliable sources of information or trust everything seen on the Internet. And above all, to always offer their customers quality service.

- What are the manicure/pedicure trends you've been running into lately?
- World fashion determines what the current colors, shapes and prints will be for the season, and all major brands take this into account when developing their collections. Diversity is increasingly entering men's manicure, as a global trend. But my personal opinion is that clients in Bulgaria do not follow world fashion, but do what they like, with a length and shape of nails that is convenient for them.
